August Offshore Fishing – Saint Marys, Georgia
Capt. Warren Hupman of Fish Master Charters
The June and July bite was the best this year so far. The big kings
came in all the way to the beach. Anglers where catching them at the red
tops, buoy line and the north jetty buoy can. The amberjacks where on the
FA reef , but now have moved offshore. The cobia are a hit or miss , but the
red snapper are on fire. I am catching them every time I go offshore. They
are so hunger they are hitting the out riggers while trolling. I am one of
the council members of grays reef and with the chair person that is on the
council for the Atlantic fisheries. He told me that we could got a season
August is the time for the fish to ready to start heading south.
With all the rain we have been getting it is bringing the water temp down.
It has dropped 2 degree is some places offshore like FA reef. I am still
catching Kings, cudas and cobia now from 15-20 miles out. It won’t be long
before I will have to go 30+ to get the fish. It all depends on how soon the
water temp drops and how more storms coming through.
